LAWS RELATING TO DOOR MAINTENANCE
By law, any owner or manager of a premises (including homeowners) have a duty of care to anyone that may be affected by doors and gates on their premises. This means that, in the event of any injury or loss caused by an unsafe door, the injured persons may be able to sue in a civil court to recover any damages. This law is also applicable to employers and the self-employed, including landlords, managing agents and facilities managers.
Health & Safety At Work Act 1974
Under Section 3 of the Health & Safety At Work Act 1974, it is the duty of every employer to ensure that anyone in his/her employment is not exposed to risks to their health and safety, nor anyone not under employment but present on the premises. Should there be any potential risk to health and safety, then it is the duty of the employer to give information about such risks. At JJP Door Solutions we ensure that all industrial doors, warehouse doors, sectional doors, roller shutters and security shutters are fitted securely and properly, adhering to all health and safety regulations. Where any risks are concerned, we also provide information and training to ensure staff and managers are adequately informed of how to use the door or shutter and are aware of any possible risks.

Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992:
JJP Door Solutions experts will ensure your warehouse doors, roller shutters, industrial doors, sectional doors and security shutters are suitably constructed to be compliant with Regulations 5 and 18 of the HSE Approved Code of Practice, which stipulates that:
- Any sliding door has a device to prevent it coming off its track during use
- Any upward opening door will have a device to prevent it falling back
- Any powered door has suitable features to prevent injury to any person
- Where necessary, any powered door can be operated manually if power fails
- Any equipment that could fail and put workers at risk should be checked at regular intervals and properly maintained, including inspection, testing, adjustment, lubrication, repair and cleaning.
- Any faults detected must be rectified as soon as possible and action should be taken immediately to isolate the fault where there is risk of serious harm.
